These terms govern your use of Terra Limen ("the app"), published by Aether Tools ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
What this app is. An observation instrument that shows NOAA’s latest upstream solar-wind readings and a model estimate of where Earth’s magnetopause sits, with the age of every reading.
Not a forecast or safety service. Do not use Terra Limen to make decisions about power grids, satellites, aviation, radio, navigation, or anyone’s safety. For official space-weather alerts, use NOAA SWPC.
Honesty about the numbers
Readings come from NOAA’s real-time solar-wind products, measured by spacecraft roughly 1.5 million km upstream of Earth. They can be delayed, missing, or revised. The standoff distance is an estimate from the Shue et al. (1998) model using proton-only pressure. It is not a measurement of the boundary. The arrival time is a rough ballistic projection, and it cannot account for the orientation or evolution of the solar wind. The drawing is a schematic. The app does not predict auroras and makes no claim that space weather affects how you feel.
Data source
Solar-wind data is provided by NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center. NOAA does not endorse Terra Limen. We are not responsible for the availability or accuracy of NOAA’s feed.
License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, which applies to this app except where these terms add to it.
In-app purchase
Terra Limen Pro is an optional one-time in-app purchase. Apple processes the payment under Apple’s terms, and refunds are requested through Apple. The live instrument, field stamps, and sample mode stay free.
Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or that the NOAA feed will remain reachable.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aether Tools will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Changes
We may update the app and these terms. Material changes will be reflected by the date at the top of this page; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
